The more you have, the more you try to have more

My recent life has offered some new responsibilities, and new types of processes toward manageable survival that are becoming requirements. As I move forward in these types of spontaneous visions that occur regularly I have ended up as sort of a property manger, or as we used to call it back in Queens, a Super. In other words I have to maintain the property I'm renting, and coordinate the occupants that will be dwelling here. The cost for the property rental is more than just one or two people can handle, but three four or even five seems right. Still to this day I am still believing in communal living where open communication , honesty and compassion are the only rules. Of course there are the logistics, clean up after yourself, don't fuck anything up without fixing it, stay out of other people's stuff,  pay your share, and if you cannot, make some sort of effort to work towards group satisfaction.

So while swimming in the drama of finding decent people to live with I am realizing that the more I have, the more I want to have. I wanted to rent this house so that we could play music,  make art, have a garden, and learn how to do things on our own. This type of "utopia" (which I incidentally is a term I used in my craigslist add for roommates and has called all of the woodworkians to arise) is obtainable, but at what cost?

The big question that becomes of these concepts is whether or not it is worth it, or as effective a means for cultural change to embark on endeavors of this sort. Should I be renting spots, should I be buying spots, or should i be moving from one spot to the other? It seems that any individual that is living a life within a defined society is probably asking the same sort of question. The thing that I notice when entering people's homes on a daily basis (part of my job) is that there is some remorse, and there is some relief amongst homeowners. Buying a house and property can set someone in the same spot for quite a while. Whereas some find comfort in having a single little spot on the face of the earth to call their own, others may think that the whole of Earth is their own (or we are the Earth's own) and that it should be enjoyed by everybody without restraint.

Things will always turn out OK

Today I found out that the astrological determination of a person born on a certain time and day is skewed (according to who?). Ha! That kind of proves that all attempts to define yourself in an infinite means is the kind of fantasy that intrigues us. Perhaps science in a whole skips a beat after a while. Right when we could be on that  cusp of discovery, reality kicks us in the you know what. That is alright though because we are resilient, and willing to learn from our mistakes and our accomplishments.

American culture provides a certain type of justification of ignorance that serves the general population. At the same time I feel that there are so many Americans that contribute to the betterment of the world that us "peasants" decide to put under our sleeves.

Each and one of us could make a difference if we tried, and that is what we all want to do; but how? Our observations of our world tells us that Mother Earth will get hot and cold where we are not used to. So what!? At this point we have figured out how to control environmental conditions to survive, and the fact that  we have acknowledgment of our conditions means that we have a chance.

I kind of wonder if the humans that survived the ice ages blamed themselves for the change. There is a good chance that there was some sort of story behind it. Just like how we have science to describe things that we name.

Of course we are polluting the Earth. Then again: Earth will prosper until it fades into the chaotic Sun, or until it expires within the Solar System. We will prosper!

We have time,.

Anarchy rules...

Leave behind your heart

I've always wondered what it would be like to expose people to my various quandaries on life and all the other subjects that follow. I remember leaving behind poems or journal entries in places of travel such as subway stations or greyhound stops throughout New York state before there were things like blogs. I was always into the notion of others viewing an impression made by myself without knowing me or my circumstances. Of course I also left behind drawings, trash and other disposable things. This is why it seems right to start this "BLOG".

A friend of mine; a roommate that I lived with in Seattle (back in cut throat dire straits glory) recently visited Portland and suggested that I should write. The outcome is unsure, but of course who cares. It is true that having a place to vent and describe the feelings and thoughts that occur within the individual that has been deemed to be "me" is a great self analysis tool, and perhaps whom ever ends up having the interest or painful patience to read through this can find some sort of satisfaction through human recognition.

Gaining greatness is something that we all want to achieve. How we do it or what we do to get there seems arbitrary; such as the inevitable fact that we have no idea what will happen after death, and the awesome feeling of being alive. The patterns and rituals that we adopt is negligible in regard to the sacredness of  what is actually happening throughout the generations of our species. I feel very happy that art, language, culture and tradition has been something that all people cherish and within the same vain, I intend to contribute to that pool of experience.

We use the concept of the heart to describe our deepest and most honest thoughts and feelings. As "new age" and "hippie" it is to say, I encourage you reader to leave your heart behind. Please use your brain to realize that heart is something that is shared amongst us all and that we have the intellect to find individualism and universalism within this concept.
